Pollution and traffic are increasing in the world and more specifically in Lebanon. If we go ahead and trace back the main reason of these problems we would mainly end up with the lack of our reliance on public transportation in Lebanon. Looking further into the future, if we continue this way, traffic jam would increase considerably!
The main reasons why people in Lebanon don’t like to use this kind of transportation to commute are that it isn’t safe nor reliable! You are not sure that you will get on time so you would prefer private taxis.
“Yalla Bus” is an app that tries to solve the lack of reliability of the public modes of transportation due to the lack of information about these modes of locomotion. The user specifies where he’s going to and based on their preferences, the app tells them how to get to their destination.
That way, the app facilitates transportation through this medium. Designing such an app has many challenges. The main one is that the sector of buses is not controlled by the government and it’s not unified. Having a unique app that unifies buses makes them more unified and better structured.
The main message: We have a beautiful country but it lacks structures and the willingness to work in groups. The youth has what it takes to succeed. We have the energy, we have the knowledge, we are strong enough!!
The team is lead by two young adults: Therese Keyrouz and Ghassan Zougheib. They both still are university students. This project shows just the power of the youth to actually do something that matters
